Petitions federal government for emergency response funding to help schools expand access to online instruction for economically disadvantaged students

ACR 171 (Jasey, Lampitt, Karabinchak) The pandemic laid bare the digital divide among affluent and less affluent households.  During this crisis, home access to the internet has become an absolute necessity for students to continue with their education.  A lack of internet access makes it impossible to ensure that all students receive the same educational services and threatens to undermine the gains made by the state in closing the achievement gap.  The federal government has already recognized this digital divide as a national issue and has several proposals under consideration to address the crisis.  This resolution urges the federal government to address this issue immediately for the benefit of our students.
