A 1720: Requires cultural diversity and implicit bias training be included in police basic training curriculum

A 1720 (Speight, Reynolds-Jackson) NJEA believes that a diverse society provides equal access and opportunity for all as a civil right, and we support activities to train individuals to operate effectively in a democratic society. This bill would require that police basic training curriculum include issues related to cultural diversity and implicit bias. Making sure law enforcement officers have the necessary training to act with cultural sensitivity will help in fostering positive relations within all communities across the state.
