AJR 59 : Designates February 28 of each year as “Amistad Day.”

AJR 59 (Quijano, Wimberly, Sumter) NJEA is committed to promoting racial and social justice in our schools and in our state. We continue to support and work with the Amistad Commission to ensure that the history of slavery and the contributions of African Americans to our country are taught in every public school in New Jersey. Therefore, we support this joint resolution to designate February 28 as “Amistad Day” every year during Black History Month.
