S 354 (Gopal, Oroho): NJEA supports the concept of this bill but is concerned that one of the largest stakeholders is not included in the taskforce. Therefore, we respectfully request that NJEA be given a seat on the task force. In addition, we would like to see the public hearings be accessible to all members of the public. To accommodate work schedules, we suggest each region have two hearings, one in the day and one in the evening. Finally, we would like to see the task force charged with seeking input and gathering testimony from educators, as well as administrators and the public. Educators are professionals with real-world knowledge and understanding about school funding and the impact it has on the resources our communities and state can provide to our children.
