S 2401: Prohibits public school students and employees from immediately returning to school after leaving country during public health emergencies

S 2401

Prohibits public school students and employees from immediately returning to school after leaving country during public health emergencies

S2401 (Beach) As the current pandemic continues to spread throughout the country and world, New Jersey must do everything it can to protect the health and safety of students and educators returning to school this Fall. S2401 would prevent students or staff who have traveled abroad or out of state from returning to school buildings for 14 days after their return to NJ, or the end of a public health emergency, whichever happens first.

Additionally, the bill ensures that staff prevented from returning to school due to out of state travel would maintain their compensation and benefits. By prohibiting the immediate return of individuals to schools after travel outside of the United States or New Jersey, this legislation will help prevent the potential spread of COVID-19 in our public schools.
