Concerns juvenile incarceration and parole

S2511 (Pou) NJEA believes that policies towards juveniles must prioritize rehabilitation, education, intervention, and transition strategies. By emphasizing a positive value system, problem-solving skills, and accountability, schools and communities can work together to promote personal growth and strengthen self-sufficiency. This legislation moves towards achieving these goals by accelerating the implementation of reforms to the juvenile justice system signed into law by Governor Murphy in January. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, enacting these reforms immediately will remove unnecessary obstacles to the successful rehabilitation of juveniles, while also protecting the health and safety of the juveniles and their communities.
