S 2899

Establishes Safe Remote Learning Program in DOE to support provision of remote instruction facilities by public schools

S 2899 (Singleton, Ruiz) NJEA supports this bill. There are many parents and guardians who have to report to work who do not have the means to pay for the extra child care required for remote and hybrid learning. This bill creates a mechanism for districts to ensure that school children have safe, supervised places to be during the school day when they cannot be in their school buildings during the pandemic. NJEA thanks the sponsors for addressing our concerns to ensure that there is a compliance mechanism to ensure the safety of those locations.
