NJEA supports S-3371 (Ruiz)/A-4906 (Lampitt, Holley, Mosquera, Wimberly) which requires public and nonpublic schools to notify students and parents of availability of summer meals programs and locations where meals are served. Notification would be made through the distribution of fliers provided by the Department of Agriculture.
NJEA believes that all students should have access to healthy and nutritious meals throughout the year. Requiring the notification of availability of summer meals programs would help children who are most in need receive proper nutrition. Ultimately, having nutritious meals helps students perform better academically and maintain good health.
NJEA urges you to vote “yes” on S-3371/A-4906.
