S 2603
Requires DOE to provide funds to school districts for acquisition of technology devices to address digital divide and requires districts to reimburse DOE from available federal funds
S 2603 (Ruiz, Scutari) NJEA believes all students must have equitable access to technology. Across the state many students lack access to the digital devices that are necessary for remote learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This bill proposes to deal with this issue by requiring the Department of Education to provide funds to school districts to acquire technological devices, which the district would then reimburse through available federal funds. Addressing the digital divide through these funds will help all students to fully participate in virtual learning.
