 Establishes Amistad Curriculum Award Program for teachers who perform exemplary service providing instruction on slavery and African-American history; appropriates $5,000

S 3654 (Sweeney, Rice) NJEA is committed to promoting racial and social justice in our schools and in our state. We continue to support the work of the Amistad Commission to ensure that the history of slavery and the contributions of African Americans to our country are taught in every public school in New Jersey. We support this legislation to recognize and uplift the educators who are exemplifying the best practices in instruction on this critical issue.
