S 1219: Requires student representative be appointed to each board of education of school district that includes high school.

S 1219 (Turner) A 3392 (Reynolds-Jackson, Timberlake, Jasey): NJEA agrees that the student voice can add important information to discussions surrounding school policy. The student perspective is important when boards of education are making decisions, and having a student at each meeting will make it easier for boards to hear this perspective. In addition, a student representative can also share the board’s perspective with other students. While many boards of education already include student representation, this bill will ensure that all boards have that representation.
