A 5603 (Calabrese, Johnson)/ S 991 (Weinberg) NJEA believes in ensuring the health and safety of our students, communities, and residents. Many parts of New Jersey are crisscrossed with railways, many of which are near our public schools. Unfortunately, numerous accidents over the years show the dangers with having hazardous materials regularly transported by rail. This bill ensures that safety comes first by protecting residents, students, workers, and communities. What’s more, the bill will make available key safety information so that communities have access to appropriate emergency response plans.
